I always crave to see more stories about and by people of color, particularly new work by young black writers.

I love living around black people. Home is home. We suffer under racism and the physical deprivations that come with that, but beneath that, we form cultures and traditions that are beautiful.

Watching something being constructed, whether you're passing a building site or whether you're watching an artist at work, is fascinating, and I think that's the enjoyment.

I love to unwind and watch movies, especially those from the classic black-and-white era.

Writers are in the entertainment business, and it gives me lots of pleasure to entertain my readers.

Every time I sit in the audience and watch a show that I have been involved with, it is such an amazing feeling to see all those people around me, knowing they are actually watching and enjoying something I have written.

What I really like doing is storytelling, finding the body language that is necessary for the story. And when I'm doing it and it's working, I'm thrilled.

I am admiring of my fellow peers, black filmmakers and black actors and actresses.

There's one more thing I want to say. It's a touchy subject. Black beauty. Black sensuality. We live in a culture where the beauty of black people isn't always as celebrated as other types. I'd like to help change that if I can!

What I really enjoy the most is seeing what the crowd likes. I enjoy making people laugh.
