I'm part Maori. My mum's Maori, and she raised me. And my grandma, she's Maori.

Being a young Kiwi lad, a young Polynesian boy, I was pretty close to my family. But when I moved to Sydney, I went from training twice a week, playing touch footy with my mates, to working full-time as a labourer and training professionally.

I was born in New Zealand, so I have a lot of family there.

It's my mission to get the New Zealand accent into a Hollywood show. I'm proud of the way we talk, and I'm here to represent it. Kiwis are everywhere: they're in every city of the world. I've checked. We have a voice... it's a bit of a funny one at times, but it's one that I want to promote.

New Zealand is a place where you can get well.

I've never been to New Zealand before. But one of my role models, Xena, the warrior princess, comes from there.
