I don't like to play the victim.

One thing I want to say: I don't like victim stories and I don't write them.

I am not going to play the victim.

I am a survivor and not a victim. Life isn't perfect. When you get a knock, you have to get up, dust yourself down and get on with it.

In my experience victims are more concerned with helping their families understand that they are still connected to them. In some rare experiences information comes through that helps understand what happened.

I don't think there's any story worth dying for, but I do think there are stories worth taking risks for.

Victims and survivors deserve more than a person seeking a headline.

I guess I've played a lot of victims, but that's what a lot of the history of women is about.

Writing a novel is actually searching for victims. As I write I keep looking for casualties. The stories uncover the casualties.
