I think I'm kind of attracted to the material more than the medium. I'm not opposed to doing a television show, though. I actually think there are a couple of good ones. And there is some terrible theater. Film is a very different kind of acting.

I enjoy doing everything, comedy and drama. I just look for the characters really and what they offer.

But I'm attracted to roles where I get to really go in and explore a character.

I like movies about people and movies with characters; that's what I'm drawn to as a person who likes to create these characters within the story, but I like it all, really.

As a writer, I try to appeal to the 'elusive boy audience' the same way I try to appeal to everyone: I do the very best I can to create interesting characters, addictive plots, tons of conflict, believable settings, unexpected plot twists, intriguing beginnings, and satisfying endings.

The truth is that filmmaking is not really an actor's medium; it's really a director's medium, so all I can really control is the character that I'm playing. So I try to look for characters that are interesting and engaging and different than what I've done before and hopefully it becomes a good movie.

I always find that really interesting, you know, when I get to see characters that I love in TV and film and theater around their family.

I get to play a great character while working with great actors and great directors on a great show.

What I truly get excited about is not the genre of a movie or the size of a part - it's character. I like to find characters.

The kind of actors I admire move through different characters and genres.
