You can't observe as much if you're observed by others.

More often than we realize, people see in us what we don't see in ourselves.

I try genuinely, when I'm playing a character, to not judge them and just to inhabit someone as how one sees them. That being said, you also want to make sure that you don't blur the edges of people too much because humans are naughty and complicated beings.

If you feel like an outsider, you tend to observe things a lot more.

It's only when you risk failure that you discover things. When you play it safe, you're not expressing the utmost of your human experience.

Seeing things from a different point of view can help us understand why other people act the way they do. We too often judge people without having all the facts.
