You have to keep fit being a singer - that's part of the job. You can't do it unless you have incredible stamina.

I feel like, to have a career as an artist, you don't need to meet the same criteria as you do to win a singing competition. They're two very different animals.

But I have never wanted to be a singer, because the exterior part of a career, I don't like very much.

One of the reasons I didn't ever pursue a career - in the music world if you're black or mixed, you need to be able to belt a song or else you're not a singer, you know?

Might I be ridiculous? Might my career in music be laughable? Yeah, that's possible, but that's certainly not my intention.

I don't think I want to transition into being a recording artist for the rest of my life or anything like that, but it's something I'd like to try.
