As far as R&B, I listen to a lot of old school like the Temptations and Chris Brown.

I grew up listening to a lot of different types of music, and R&B in particular was something that I loved - Aaliyah, Usher, Alicia Keys, TLC.

In the '90s, it was cool to just like R&B. But I liked Nirvana and stuff, too.

I love the fact that 35 years later, I still hear my songs on the radio.

Musically, I actually grew up listening to country music as a kid, like George Strait, Alan Jackson... all those guys. So it was kind of weird crossing over from that to pop and R&B, but you know, I love Michael Jackson, Ne-Yo, Usher, R. Kelly, Drake, Boyz II Men.

I was a B.I.G. fan. I like all of his stuff. I don't really have a favorite song. They all are good, and each brings different memories to me. And you can still listen to it to this day and it means something.

When we bemoan the lost golden age of music, it's worth remembering that mainstream radio listeners of the '60s and '70s, particularly in Canada, missed out on an outpouring of brilliant R&B music.

I love Chris Brown. He's a superstar. He's one of the best singers out there.

I'm sure every song has some kind of undertone of what I was going through with Chris. It was my life.

One of my first big shows, I opened up for Chris Brown; I was about 10 years old, and Chris Brown was just big; he still is one of my idols now.
