If you make something, it's an artifact. It's something that somebody or some corporate entity has caused to come into being. A great many human beings have thought about each of the artifacts that surround us. Different degrees of intelligence and attention have been brought to bear on anything.

As human beings, we're very materialistic and have all this stuff - furs and cars and diamonds and money.

I always want objects in my home that have a connection to me or something I've loved. It's still stuff, but it's stuff that has meaning.

Somehow, we have come to the erroneous belief that we are all but flesh, blood, and bones, and that's all. So we direct our values to material things.

Whether it's digital or physical, a pencil or a pen: line work. Humans are making things. And out of that comes the entire designed world we live within.

Desire creates its own object.

What my work is about is, 'Can something that is not an inanimate object be considered valuable?'

The familiar material objects may not be all that is real, but they are admirable examples.
