Although you have some films that are a real bummer, there's always a film that comes up where it's just heaven.

I grew up in a big sky country. Then I lived in Manhattan, where you can only see the sky between buildings, and then I went into a building where you couldn't see the sky at all. I didn't like that so much.

To be honest, we have no control over what's going on with a movie, much less what people are going to think of it. Your whole life is wound up in it but you don't have control and you have to get used to being on that turbulent plane without trying to fly it. The less you think about all that the better.

I'm using all my resources to help me with that and I feel the sky is the limit for me.

You become so obsessed, and that's not a bad thing for a movie. Serve it with that sense that it's the whole world.

That's the kind of movie that I like to make, where there is an invented reality and the audience is going to go someplace where hopefully they've never been before. The details, that's what the world is made of.

I feel like every movie, I've learned more and more about what I think of the world and what I'm trying to figure out.
