I made the record that my life had me make. Each one is like a diary.

When I want to check out how my life's been, I go through my albums. They steps in my life.

I still hold on to the idea that a record can really change the way I feel.

This record for the first time - feels like a record that really represents my whole entire life and instead of just a period of my life. And it is really kind of eye opening and it makes me feel really good to hear this record and hear all the years.

The first record I spent five years writing and it was an amalgamation of all the things that happened in my life from the time I was fifteen to the time I was twenty.

I always try to do something different. I don't think I've made the same record over and over.

My last two records that I made were both quite pointed in one direction and I think I do my best stuff when it's all over the map, when there's a couple traditional things, a couple pretty rocking things.

Every record, you've got more experiences to draw on as a writer and a musician.

I make records with an open mind, I always have.

Each record is sort of like a brand new baby, where it's your favorite thing at that moment in time.
