Becoming a parent gives you access to a whole world of feeling. It gives you a much stronger sense of life and death: becoming a father made me realise my own mortality.

Being a parent means my time use has to be a bit more focused, but it also gives me a new non-writing dimension to my life, which is a healthy thing. I can't wander along for weeks with an idea drifting through my head - I have someone who will drag me back into life, and that's a good thing.

I don't think I was the most brilliant mother when they were young. I had quite a bit of help because I was working and I enjoyed my work.

To me, having kids is the ultimate job in life. I want to be most successful at being a good father.

Becoming a mother has been the best thing ever for me. It's become my life's work. Not just parenting, but sharing information and encouraging other women to be receptive to the basic nature of motherhood.

I absolutely love being a mother. It's been a blessing. It's fun and it's hard, but it's absolutely amazing.

Fatherhood is a joy. I feel very lucky to have a family. It gives you a perspective on things.

So, you know, parenting is a very intimate and amazing experience and one of the best experiences of my life.
