I'm in this band to give volume to various struggles throughout the world. To me, the tension in this band is a minimal sacrifice.

And then there's all these other creeps that surround your band and suck off you like leeches and try to manipulate you and your business. You have to watch like a hawk. I'm always ready to fight. I see it very much as a battle.

At the end of the day, though, the band members have to be strong. It's down to the individuals in the unit. Listen to me, I'm talking like I'm in the army and this is my squadron.

Being in a band is far more than playing an instrument. It's surviving. It's getting an album together.

And I was very comfortable with this band even when we disagreed. It takes a long time to feel comfortable enough to disagree with somebody. When everything happened, it just was really confusing. It's like our weaknesses were nurtured and brought out front by outsiders.

I can't believe we've got away with becoming this huge band. And we still haven't done anything I think is that good yet.
