I got too caught up in Hollywood, being so into myself and my image.

I stuck around in Hollywood for too long. I was there a long time, and when I left, I was smart enough to realise that what I was leaving was not just the movie business. I wanted to get rid of the whole atmosphere.

Later on they send me to Hollywood. To make movies. It was all new to me. I was only 21 years old.

When I first came to Hollywood, I could not break into movies.

Luckily, I think, I never really wanted to be famous, I just wanted to make movies.

And I'm very surprised that all this stuff actually worked out to where I could have a career in film, gain the benefit of my education, and be thankful that I was able to break into my craft as an actor.

I wasn't straining at the bit to become a movie star any more than I had plotted to get out of vaudeville and into Broadway musicals.

Then in college I became obsessed with film, and wanted to be part of that.

I had a friend in high school who badly wanted to make movies and would recruit me as an actor. It was always so much fun. I decided, I'm going to go to Hollywood and make movies, which is a thought I'd never had before.
