I always feel that whatever isn't necessary shouldn't be in a poem.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Poetry is necessary, but is the poet?
Poetry should be great and unobtrusive, a thing which enters into one's soul, and does not startle it or amaze it with itself, but with its subject.
One reason to write a poem is to flush from the deep thickets of the self some thought, feeling, comprehension, question, music, you didn't know was in you, or in the world.
Poetry must be made by all and not by one.
We all need poetry. The moments in our lives that are characterized by language that has to do with necessity or the market, or just, you know, things that take us away from the big questions that we have, those are the things that I think urge us to think about what a poem can offer.
However, if a poem can be reduced to a prose sentence, there can't be much to it.
But poetry is my life. Poetry is what matters to me.
Poetry is indispensable - if I only knew what for.
You don't make a poem with ideas, but with words.
If you cannot be a poet, be the poem.
