Radical politics tend to be simple minded.

Political stories in general are tough. They just don't appeal to as wide an audience.

Maybe it's true that people with less extreme views who are also interested in public affairs have been driven out by a marketplace that doesn't offer them anything of the tone they want to listen to.

I think that what most surprises anybody who goes into politics from even a modestly cerebral background is the vulgarity of much of the cut and thrust of politics.

To go from politics to news, at least the subject matter is the same, even if the view is different.

Very few people go into politics to be reviled.
