My wigs are ever changing in height, width, color, size. They make me feel happy. Wearing them makes me feel like I can be a different person every day and that is kind of exciting.

I've always loved the idea of changing myself, wearing costumes and disguises. It takes you back to being a kid, to dressing up.

Transformational acting was the reason why I became an actor in the first place. Your hair and make-up and the costume are the tools that you have, and it makes you feel like that person. When you look in the mirror, you don't feel like yourself, and it changes the way you move. I love that stuff.

For me, wigs and hairpieces are an everyday part of my life. One day I can wear what I like to call my 'Back to you, Barbara' look - professional and full of layers - and the next day you may see me in my 'Bubblin' Brown Sugar' look - curly, fun and bubbly.

My physical transformations - like changing my hair - are usually a reflection of what's inspiring me at the moment.

Using clothes to transform was a huge part of my childhood. But also, I've been acting forever, and wardrobe changes the way you feel, so it totally indicates the character you're going to play.

I wanted to be a drag queen so badly. I'll bet I still own more wigs than any drag queen - I love me a wig.

I don't wear a wig. I'd feel terrible onstage with a wig. I hate to be so 'Actors Studio'-ish, but I like to feel it's me out there.

As long as I can wear a wig I can be any character, and in real life I can be myself.

I can't disguise myself with a wig and dark glasses - the wheelchair gives me away.
