To sit back and say, 'Oh, we're going to let the government do whatever they want, right or wrong,' is giving up.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
It is about the American people. When something is not ready, it is not working, it is not right, then we owe it to them to do the right thing and say, 'Let's hold.'
To give up the task of reforming society is to give up one's responsibility as a free man.
It is up to us, to this present generation of Americans, to take a stand for freedom, to send a message to Washington that we're taking our future back from the grips of central planners who would control our healthcare, who would spend our treasure, who downgrade our future and micro-manage our lives.
The politicians in Washington are spending trillions of dollars of our money. When are Americans going to stand up and say enough is enough?
We should not give up and we should not allow the problem to defeat us.
When a part of our nation gets knocked down, we come together to help pick it up again. No questions asked. That's the American way, and I would expect every single member of Congress to support that sentiment with their words, their actions, and their votes.
It's a social contract we make. We're willing to give up certain things. We give you the right to tax us. We give you the right to lock us up. We give you the right to put us on surveillance, search our homes, whatever and, in exchange, we get a functioning society that keeps us relatively safe, and that's the tradeoff we make.
It is no longer appropriate for me as an American to sit by and expect my government to get it done.
To me, that's the role of government: not to give people a hand out, but a hand up... giving people the tools to pave their own way to success.
Whoever said anybody has a right to give up?
