You almost can't avoid having some version of the multiverse in your studies if you push deeply enough in the mathematical descriptions of the physical universe.

If our local, observable universe is embedded in a larger structure, a multiverse, then there's other places in this larger structure that have denizens in them that call their local environs the universe. And conditions in those other places could be very different. Or they could be pretty similar to what we have here.

I really believe in the philosophy that you create your own universe. I'm just trying to create a good one for myself.

I believe that the universe works how it's supposed to work.

I believe that God made this wonderful universe and all that exists.

I was already writing about the idea of a 'multiverse' in the 1970s, though I might have called it the 'pluriverse.' How was I to know it would turn out to be the standard model? Actually, I consider myself an enlightenment fossil.

We must believe then, that as from hence we see Saturn and Jupiter; if we were in either of the Two, we should discover a great many Worlds which we perceive not; and that the Universe extends so in infinitum.

Sometimes I think we're alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we're not. In either case the idea is quite staggering.

For each one of us stands alone in the midst of a universe.
