I think one of the things about being a good coach is to recognise when you have given all that you can. In fact there should be some sort of unspoken law that says that a coach cannot have anyone for three or four years - if you have not passed on most of the stuff you know in that time, then you are not doing a good job.

To have the kind of year you want to have, something has to happen that you can't explain why it happened. Something has to happen that you can't coach.

As a player, I can tell them they don't want to rush to become a coach, because there is a lot that goes on. This is all something new to me. You can talk to a lot of the coaches... and they can tell you. Until you go through it, then you can understand what it's all about.

Becoming a coach has to be in your blood. There are hundreds and thousands of former athletes out there, but there are maybe only 10 people who want to dedicate their lives by taking on a job as a coach. Not only a master, a coach should also be a brother or sister to his apprentices.

Will I become a coach in the future? No way. I'd never be able to put up with someone like me.

I think every time you coach a certain team, when you leave that franchise, I think you continue to grow. You take a look at the things that you did, the things you wish you had done better. You analyze your strengths and your weaknesses, and then when you move to your next job, you continue to do the same thing.

There is still a big onus to be coached. I understand the best teams don't need a huge amount of coaching, but that's when a coach should decide not to do coaching.

I don't think a coach becomes the right coach until he wins a championship.

So I don't really believe that how many years you've had in the league determines how well your players play... Coaching is coaching.

All I can say is that I'm going to try to coach the way I've coached in the past. And if it ends up not being good enough, then so be it.
