The thing with being able to do accents is that it's still completely separate from being an actor.

Unless it's a specific accent, or something about physicality you have to change, I am generally not such a conscious actor.

Funny enough, every role that I have had, I try to tone down my accent or speak with better diction.

I used to play a lot of foreign women in my youth because I was prettier then. I would go for interviews, and directors would look at these sultry, exotic looks, hear this clipped accent and think the two don't go together. So they would give me a foreign accent.

I think when you have to train an accent, it just takes you absolutely into another spectrum of the character.

I always wonder whether I'll get treated differently with a different accent.
