I like comedies in general.

I prefer comedies when they come from a dark kind of place and have a reality to it.

I haven't really done a lot of comedies. I don't know why, because I really like them.

I like to approach comedy from character, to have the stakes for the individuals in the story be very high.

And I think it's very rare to have good stories, well written comedies.

I definitely prefer working in comedy over drama, but at the same time, when it comes to comedy, I tend to prefer comedies that have a great sense of truth to them and that come from an honest place.

The older I've gotten, the more the need to exert comedy no matter how tragic a character I may be portraying because they are essentials for presenting truth.

I like stories with a collision of disparate tones. Look at 'Shameless' or 'House of Lies'. They go from big, silly, and comedic to very real dramatic moments in the wink of an eye.

For me, I believe comedy's about taking risks, taking chances, working in a safe environment where you're comfortable making a fool of yourself. It's so critical, especially in comedy, to just have all those right pieces in place.

I enjoy the work I do in comedies. It's a valid test of your creative abilities.
