When I left HP, I thought about sitting it out for a while.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE

While I was in London it was completely upside-down. I got a whole new life and it was a challenge to keep in touch with my life in Ireland, but it was great fun. Now though, I've been back home since November and gradually all connections with my HP life have been fading.
I managed Hewlett Packard through the worst technology downturn in 25 years, the dotcom bust.
To explore technology for me is something that I have to do. Otherwise, I feel completely left in the back... abandoned.
I find it refreshing to unplug from it for a while. You kind of forget how deeply you get embedded in it.

For me, the card catalog has been a companion all my working life. To leave it is like leaving the house one was brought up in.
I didn't want to spend my life behind a desk.
I put everything in that last lap, it was very emotional when I crossed the line. It was all I had, I gave it all.
