I never really wanted to be an actor. And that was the beginning of it, I began to write things down and eventually became a writer on a television show.

I started as an actor, then became a theater director. I loved acting but didn't feel as confident as I needed to be, so I started directing theater; then I played in some movies, and then I felt the need to do my own stuff.

In reality, I've always been an actor - since I was a kid. I did theater growing up in New York. I was always in the plays in school. I was either going to be an actor or an athlete or a soldier. Those were kind of the three paths that I always kind of embarked on.

My introduction to acting was through theatre, so I actually saw a couple of Broadway shows that made me want to be an actor.

I became an actor because I enjoy playing a variety of different people rather than playing one person for the rest of my career.

My background is in musical comedy. I didn't know I was going to be an actor. But all my points of reference have to do with musical comedy and in being kind of a showoff.
