I think it's great for the women to show that they are women and be feminine. And that's something that I've always promoted.

I've said this before, and I'm sure there are people who disagree, but I feel like one of the reasons there aren't a lot more women in stand-up - and there are many more now; it's not parity, but it's getting there - is that women are not socialized to look stupid or silly. They're socialized to be pretty and precious.

I don't believe that you have to dress in a masculine way to seem powerful. I think that the way a woman dresses doesn't have to be so aggressive. Being feminine is a powerful feature in itself. Power is in a person's demeanor.

Being feminine in the way you dress doesn't have to compromise who you are as a woman or your career.

Style is a very personal thing and women should develop their own individual look.

There's not one type of stand-up, just like there's not one type of woman.

At work, you want to stand out but not in extra-funky ways. At the core, it's about dressing for girls - who are most of my fans - and you want to dress up for them. You just want to feel like you're on top of your game.

Behind all their personal vanity, women themselves always have an impersonal contempt for woman.
