I was rapping as a hobby. It was something I did for my friends and just played around on ideas and stuff like that.

I started by producing, and the rapping came second to that, because I wanted to fill out the beat.

I used to do the beat box. A friend of mine, he was the rapper and after, we'd be doing a block party or something or a house party, and he's gettin' all the attention and I'd end up with a handful of spit, you know, from doing the beats.

When I first started producing, all I had was this little crappy sampler called a S20, which had, like, a minute sample time. I was making crappy beats since I was, like, 17 or 18, using Florida rappers, where I'm from. Then I started DJ'ing because I just wanted to have a new job. I was a schoolteacher for a while, and it was the worst job.

I got into DJing and making beats when I was about 17. I was always fascinated by the four elements of hip-hop: you know, writing, rhyming, breakdancing and graffiti.

I would say I started rapping because my friends were doin' it.

I started making music for myself when I was sixteen.

I used to record but just in my own studio or in my friend's back when I toyed with the idea of being a rapper.

I grew up a hip-hop kid doing mix-tapes.
