Not every day where I'm from do people get a movie made about them.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
People have to identify with their own stories, with their own lives, so a movie belongs to a country and to a culture. Sometimes we can share, but it's very rare.
I think people who live in the worlds that movies are based on end up disliking them. Unless they're from a different time and era.
People have a different idea of how movies are made than they really are.
I know people from working with them on films, but they're not the ones I would meet up with... I'm just a normal person!
I didn't come from a background of films. I didn't even really ever watch films. The fact is, my parents weren't into that stuff, and neither was I.
Of course, like all film-makers I've been mesmerised by cinema since I was a child.
Some people go to the movies to be reminded that everything's okay. I don't make those kinds of movies.
Like I said about Freaked, people tend to find these films, and I think that in the end the cool thing about a movie is that it can be sort of burnt temporarily, but then it's burnt into the fabric of your culture.
We all do films believing in them completely, but sometimes, the audiences like what we like, and other times, they don't.
I don't really care where movies come from as long as they're worth making.
