Americans can pretty much sing anything, whereas foreign singers are often limited in style, language, even composer.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
I think foreign countries really do like it when American artists sing in their language. And when you go over there and say, 'Hi, how are you?' in their language, they love it. It makes them feel like you're doing it just for them. We in America take so much for granted.
What you find with singers, no matter where they're from, if they have any kind of an accent, the accent tends to disappear when they sing.
I'm rarely singing in English.
All the intelligence and talent in the world can't make a singer. The voice is a wild thing. It can't be bred in captivity. It is a sport, like the silver fox. It happens.
When I sing along with Britney Spears I will sing in an American accent. But eventually I found my own voice. My songs are so brutally honest, it would be alien to sing in any accent other than my own. Don't get me wrong - I can imitate singers. I can do bar mitzvahs and weddings.
We sing in English, not mimicking some American rock singer's accent. That's just pretending to be something you ain't.
'The Voice' is not just a singing competition. It really comes down to how you come off as a person and how you connect with America with your story, and being relatable to people.
I thought it was respectful to each country to sing in their language.
American music is a powerful ingredient in international music, and as much as it comes from within, it also comes from without.
I don't think there is much American music.
