We made it known that we were trying to show the reality of France. People think of Paris as the city of love or the city of light, but where you got love you got hate, where you got light you got darkness.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
Whether you like it or not, Paris is the beating heart of Western civilisation. It's where it all began and ended.
Paris is a beautiful city.
Paris presents one incessant round of amusement & dissipation but very little, I believe - even for its inhabitants of that society - which interests the heart. Every day, you may see something new, magnificent & beautiful; every night, you may see a spectacle which astonishes & enchants the imagination.
I am Parisian. I don't love the French.
I thought of Paris as a beauty spot on the face of the earth, and of London as a big freckle.
I don't know if it's a failure of imagination on my part, but I'm not going to be writing about Paris in the 1800s. I feel like it would come off as just ludicrously uninformed, even if I did a lot of research.
We, the French, are viscerally attached to our laicite, our sovereignty, our independence, our values. The world knows that when France is attacked, it is liberty that is dealt a blow.
I love Paris for the million reasons that everybody loves the city. It's an incredibly romantic and beautiful place.
Paris is a city that liberates you as a woman from all your sins that you think you are guilty of; it washes away all of that, and you are free.
What we think about Paris is a part of how we feel about it. Our idea of Paris is our idea and we don't know that that's not necessarily the way it really is. It feels so real.
