When I was a kid, I would make these incredibly bloody movies in my back yard. I was constantly making weird blood concoctions; Jell-O and milk was a good one. I was constantly ruining clothes and staining my parents' walls and stuff.

I never wanted to do something grotesque. I never wanted to shock. I wanted my audience to be happy, to be kind.

One afternoon, I was playing this new video game, 'Blood and Guts.' I was controlling Gruesome Gus versus the Crimson Menace, and I had totally waxed the guy. It was this really complex sequence of moves, and I was so excited about conquering the game that I wanted to show it to someone. Unfortunately, the only one home at the time was Mom.

I love the first hour of a horror movie, the fear and anticipation. Then, when it gets bloody, I lose interest.

I'm a teen boy, so I like seeing blood and guts. I know it's fake, but I'm having fun.

Like a lot of people, I love a bit of blood and gore.

It was fun. That was something I came to fairly late.

The catering on 'True Blood' was so good - I'd be eating amazing doughnuts all day, then realised I was in danger of turning into a right fat faerie.

Give me something interesting to play and I'm happy.

The whole process of making 'Bloody Sunday' was difficult but extraordinary.
