But eradicating corruption is not enough to sustain a country.

Part of my mandate is to curb corruption and streamline a cumbersome, graft-ridden bureaucracy, to put resources where they will provide the clearest results, and to untangle a complicated regulatory environment.

I'm going to go after crime and corruption wherever it is. But I did focus particularly on the need to restore public confidence in essential institutions of both the public and private sector.

I don't want to transform America. I want to restore to America the economic values of freedom and opportunity and limited government that has made us the powerhouse of the world.

My job is to rectify the public finances and hand the country back to the people so they can really have a future, and that is what I will do.

Throughout my career, I have made rooting out public corruption a top priority.
