In some cases, I quite like irritating people who need to be irritated.

It's always exciting to play characters who are obsessive because all their energy is so focused on that one thing and they're eccentric because of it.

I don't really ever think about whether or not I like the characters I'm playing. I'm more into the minutiae of their behaviour or what they're doing in a certain scene.

I think that characters who are nice all the time and who you sympathize with can get really boring.

I've learned through experience of playing different characters, some of whom were jerks, that when you play a character who is pretentious or obnoxious, in any way, it's important to knock them down a peg.

The more I get to do this character, the more I realize that she's not just annoying. It's that her strength is not interacting with people socially. She just doesn't have time because she has so much going on in her brain.

In my case I don't mind playing a character that irritates people or makes people question my sanity.

I always find it easier to portray myself as being unlikeable and idiotic; to actually play a character that is likeable and engages the audience is far more difficult. It's a more subtle kind of challenge.

I feel like, sometimes, characters that are just good and nice can seem boring or uninteresting.
