We are taking close to $10 a CD the way we are doing it, and I think that is a fair amount to split up between five guys. Each of us makes like two bucks a record.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
The fact I even get an opportunity to make one album is crazy. But if all goes to plan, I'll get to make five albums. That'd be nice.
We only had enough money really to cut 10 things and be in there for a month because it's expensive, you know. And, singer/songwriters, today are lucky if they can get a deal, you know. So, we actually worked so fast that we really cut 20 things.
If I was going to sell out, I would do it for more than 10,000 records.
If I cut an album now and sell it for ten bucks, I can put seven dollars and fifty cents in my pocket.
With Dollars And Cents on the album, we had it as a band jam and I sometimes spend evenings playing with records over the top of things we were working on to see what works.
I don't particularly care how many records we sell any more because we've kind of bought all the equipment we want to buy.
I'm not trying to sound pretentious, but we did sell 12 million records on the first album, so we did get paid a little bit.
There isn't a single artist out there, I'm sure, who wouldn't take the most perfect record deal. If the right record deal came along, like, the perfect deal, we'd definitely take it.
Yeah, if someone's selling downloads and collecting money for our songs I would be unhappy about that but if they're trading it I don't mind, obviously if I make a thousand records or CDs or whatever, I like to sell a thousand.
With me and Bill... I think we started out with $15 apiece and split the other $20 between the band.
