One of the things I said was that I had been in great hopes that I would become a better person as a result of confronting my own mortality, but it actually never happened. I didn't become a better person.

This is our world and we need the same things to survive. If I'm making my life better and the circumstances of your life worse, that's terrible because in the end it will affect me, too.

Of course there are times when I think, 'I'd be better out of this.'

If I want to be a better person for whoever is in my life, I have to learn.

I don't need to be better than anybody or worse than anybody to feel better about myself. I just need to stick on my own path and stay in the moment as best I can.

There's nothing worse than people who want to make you feel better when you are losing. I just want to smack them.
