Sometimes when you make a record and it's not successful, you just don't want to go through that process for a while. You want to have your wounds heal.

I just want to write another record that's as good or better than the one I've already made. That's my main goal, to follow up stronger than before.

Have I ever made a mistake? I am sure. Do I think I can stand on my record? I do.

I had this 'War and Peace' thing of wanting to experience war as a kind of incredible human enterprise. I even applied to Officer Candidate School. Then the practical side of me kicked in and I thought, 'I really don't want to get drafted.' So I went down to the physical and checked every psychological disorder and drug on the medical history form.

What is there to be afraid of? The worst thing that can happen is you fail. So what? I failed at a lot of things. My first record was horrible.

I have a proven record, a record of accomplishment, a record of cutting taxes, of shrinking the government, of reforming education, of challenging the status quo, eliminating career civil service protections, shrinking the government workforce by 11 percent, but leading the nation in job growth.

My record speaks for itself.

My records are basically a litany of complaints against the world, and I'm quite like that in real life as well.

If you look at my record, I have a clean record.

I joined the army as a private. I was offered a rank at that time, but I refused. I preferred to remain a private. First of all, I wasn't taken by ranks, and before I knew it, they put me in the most sensitive positions anyway.
