I don't want to get caught up and be an artist always on the go. Because once you do that, it's hard to get into the studio and do what I do.

I think the frustration you can get into as a young artist is when you realize your limitations, but you want to accomplish that rather than seeing that you don't have to do everything. Just focus on your strengths.

My thing is you just have to try to feel young and stay young. Obviously you get a little older, but I still want my music to be young. I don't want to sound like an old dad onstage, so you just have to write music that sounds young.

You know, there are artists who are 35 and up that still make rap and that still works for them. I don't know if I want to be that guy.

I've never wanted to use my age as a gimmick, as something that would get me ahead of other people. I've wanted the music to do that.

It's quite liberating to get to a certain age, 'cos you're not chasing number one hits or trying to be an international superstar. I've done all that. I'm not out to prove much more to anyone but myself really, to be an artist and see if there is a new undiscovered music out there for me to make.

I admire artists who are ageing and still retaining their edge.

It's very important that young artists push boundaries, because sometimes you have this urge to do something - like the impulsive and dangerous urges I had as a child - and if you don't follow through with it you might miss out on a developmental experience.
