I don't like movies that are trying to preach and trying to tell you how to feel.

I turn down a lot of movies because sometimes they glamorize violence or the darker side of sex or criminality.

I purposefully try to make films in that grey area, where things are morally ambiguous. It's like life: good people do horrible things, and bad people do good things, and there's beauty in horror and horror in beauty.

I don't require movies to be about good people, and I don't reject screen violence.

Good action films - not crap, but good action films - are really morality plays. They deal in modern, mythic culture.
