There's nothing more exciting to me than using real instruments in the studio.

Sometimes I like them artificial and sometimes I like them real. And the reason is because sometimes I like a real close sound. And I like a very specific snare sound and I can't get that in the big room.

I just love crafting and shaping sounds. Actually, many of the sounds that I work with start off as organic instruments - guitar, piano, clarinet, etc. But I do love the rigidity of electronic drums.

Analog, electronic, whatever it happens to be, I simply love and adore literally every aspect of making music.

For me, the guitar synthesizer is a great writing instrument.

Every day I look forward to getting with my instruments, trying new things.

Good taste - that's all you really need when you're playing an instrument.

Experimenting with different sounds is great, but when it comes down to it, you're still playing a guitar.

I like big shows, a lot of volume and a lot of energy. I love electric instruments. But I do love mixing those with bluegrass instruments and cranking those up, too, with a little bit of that rock energy.
