I used to sing with my father's jazz band and then when I was ten years old a musician friend of his suggested that I try out for the first west coast production of Annie.

Music had been my first love among the arts, and I was fascinated by it, as I still am.

While other kids played with cars and toys, I listened to music all day. I wanted to sing it and learn it.

I used to sing songs from musicals all the time as a kid.
