What is more important, the reality or the perception? I am perceived to be an important designer. It's enough for me.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
It is so important to be really true to yourself in design, and I am.
I think perception is important.
If you are living a life that feels right to you, if you're willing to take creative chances or a creative path that feels like it's mostly in keeping with your sensibilities, you know, aesthetic and artistic, then that's what matters.
I'm less interested in reality. I'm more interested in perception, the truth of the universe that we see.
For me, fashion is not about reality.
I don't really understand what the public perception of me is. I think public perception and reality are two wholly different things.
I would say that an understanding of man's intrinsic needs, and of the necessity to search for a climate in which those needs could be realized, is fundamental to the education of the designer.
As a designer, I think you just have to make sure you know what you want and stay true to it. You need to have conviction and really just want to make people think in regards to doing interesting things.
Time is my biggest luxury. Finding time to do things outside of fashion, which I think for a designer is incredibly important.
In terms of design, it's true the world has an influence. But, as a designer, you have to protect yourself. You have to look at the world and then forget it.
