I was an actress long before I was a reality TV person.

When reality television really hit, I just had a backlash towards reality. It seemed like a cheap way to make a product. And then when music reality and 'Idol hit,' I just didn't watch it, it seemed novelty. And of course the story of 'Idol,' this is one of the greatest stories in television history.

As soon as I could speak, I was singing. Before I could even speak full words, I would make up ones to sing and I have it on tape, too.

I'm pretty captivated by reality TV and I know that as an actor I probably shouldn't be saying that, but it's what I like to watch.

I realized early on I was not an actor. And it was a great thing to have that realization. To see actors and see what that talent is... it wasn't me.

When people come to my shows, they're like, 'I can't believe you can actually freaking sing!'

My acting ability would have sent me back to the post office. It was my singing that got me jobs. Ironically, now, people think of me as an actor and don't know me much as a singer.

I was very vocal about what I wanted to do at a very young age. I wanted to be inside of the television set. I didn't know being on TV was being an actor.
