Playing guitar was one of my childhood hobbies, and I had played a little at school and at camp. My parents would drag me out to perform for my family, like all parents do, but it was a hobby - nothing more.

When I was younger, playing piano and guitar were all things that I wanted to do for a short period of time, like any kid.

When I was in school, you could pick any instrument you want, and they'd teach you how to play it. That changed my life. I loved playing music in school, and it sent me on my path as a musician.

I grew up in a house that was always happy, and my family was always music, music. I started playing percussion very young, because I had some uncles who were musicians and all my aunts were singers.

My father was a guitar player, and I was raised with a super high standard of what good guitar playing was.

Music was always a big part of my family. Only a few of us had the talent - or the courage - to walk out on a stage.
