My view is pensioners don't have the one option that people of working age have. They can't really increase their income, because they are no longer able to work.

One line I'd draw would be on raising the eligibility age for Social Security and Medicare. It sounds fair, since people are living longer. But it isn't. Lower income workers are the ones who find it hardest to keep working after 65. And they'll get penalized with lower benefits.

We've got to make sure our younger workers understand that as life expectancy increases, the retirement date for benefits increases also.

We do not get to this age to be written off. Older people can act as a support system, which is what happens more in Mediterranean countries. People become much wiser as they get older and we should value that.

You know, and younger people today, you know, they may not have Social Security. They may not have a pension. They may have 17 different jobs. And so they have to be - they have to, you know, establish somewhat of an ownership, you know, mentality.

We are already seeing older people wanting greater choice in how, when and where they receive care.

In America the young are always ready to give to those who are older than themselves the full benefits of their inexperience.

If Britain is to have a stable, affordable pension system, people need to work longer, but we will reward their hard work with a decent state pension that will enable them to enjoy quality of life in their retirement.

We have so many people retiring that we do not have enough people paying into the system to be able to provide the benefits for those collecting those benefits.
