Sacrifice is truly the crowning test of the gospel. Men are tried and tested in this mortal probation to see if they will put first in their lives the kingdom of God.

The deepest need of men is not food and clothing and shelter, important as they are. It is God.

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

The man who can put himself in the place of other men, who can understand the workings of their minds, need never worry about what the future has in store for him.

Who are we to think that our generation is going to be the first generation to benefit from all the sacrifices that others have made without giving some modern-day equivalent of our own lives, fortunes, and sacred honor?

We need men with moral courage to speak and write their real thoughts, and to stand by their convictions, even to the very death.

Men lose all the material things they leave behind them in this world, but they carry with them the reward of their charity and the alms they give. For these, they will receive from the Lord the reward and recompense they deserve.

What a man does for others, not what they do for him, gives him immortality.
