I know who I am and what I'm doing in my life and what I've accomplished and continue to accomplish as a performer, as a writer, as an artist, as a person, as a human being.

There are artists, true performers that have come before me who have been a big inspiration to me. I hope I do the same for others.

Create something for yourself that you feel proud of, that you are in control of, that gives you a better understanding of the type of artist you want to be.

To be a great artist, you need to know yourself as best as you possibly can. I live my life and delve into my own psyche. It's more about exploring how I feel rather than making pale imitations of something that came before. We are unique beings, and the way we look at things is our own.

I feel, as an artist, I should be able to express who I am and the things I come from, and the places I want to also be.

When I started thinking about it, I was like, 'OK, if throughout time I get labeled as a conscious artist, I'll be very much celebrated, in a way, and honored.'

What do you say when someone has truly inspired you? How do you express to an artist how deeply their work has affected you?

My goal in my career is to inspire people, is to get my music out there and have people enjoy it, and have people think of me as an inspirational artist.

I am an artist, and I have the ability and the free will to choose the way the world will envision me.
