The one cool thing with getting older is that you can actively choose to just be an eccentric.

I went through this phase where I thought pink and purple matched. To dance class, I'd wear purple tights and pink leg warmers and paint my shoes purple. It was really odd.

I'm not very eccentric. I wear more conservative clothes, though I do like mini-skirts.

As a little girl in the '50s, I couldn't wear a purple-and-white flowered skirt with a red blouse - those colors were too loud. My parents were not into that 'We are Negros that wear all beige,' but there was a line you could walk over that could signal vulgar, crass, rather than clever use of color. And that outfit crossed over the line.

Now I'm old... maybe I'm still an eccentric hippie. There's a wonderful freedom in the eccentricity - you can go places, you can be wacky, and you don't have to be constrained. I think that's why people are eccentric - eccentricity is a weapon... and it's great!

I don't think I will ever get tired of wearing pink.

When I'm at an event, I like to be an eccentric dresser. I will just keep wearing what I like.

I've always liked to dress eccentrically, but as I get older I'm drawn to more classic looks, though I'll still put my own twist on them.

I saw what Purple meant to people and I still hear it now when I'm in Europe. I'm always shocked that I'm still asked about Purple because it was such a long time ago.
