It's such a weird self-confidence that an artist has - to conceive of this thing that serves no function and say, 'I'm going to really work hard for it and give it and it's just going to matter to people.' You really have to believe it all on your own.

As long as artists arbitrarily assume the right to decide what is or is not art, it is logical that the public will just as arbitrarily feel that they have the right to reject it.

Some artists want to confront. Some want to invoke thought. They're all necessary and they're all valid.

I want art to make me think. In order to do that, it may piss me off, or make me uncomfortable. That promotes awareness and change, or at least some discussion.

I'm still trying to discover my position on my own artwork and hopefully at this exhibition someone will come and tell me. I'm open to listening to criticism.

I think every artist should follow their vision, their hearts is what they need to reveal, not something that society is looking out for.

As an artist, it feels good that we've created something that is connecting with the audience, which is what we always strive to do.

When I see a new artist I give myself a lot of time to reflect and decide whether it's art or not.

I am always rethinking how art is perceived and received, questioning our relationship to art. That's always been a constant.
