Writers, at least writers of fiction, are always full of anxiety and worry.

Well, so far, at least, my own ideas always take priority over those of other writers. As long as the well doesn't run dry, I imagine this will be the case.

That's what makes writer's block so painful. You think the well has run dry, maybe somewhere in the heavens the tap has been turned off. That's beyond frightening.

All writers behave badly. All people behave badly.

I think writers rush in where everybody is very frightened to tread.

Any writer will be happy and good only if they know what they're doing and why they're doing it.

Writers may be disreputable, incorrigible, early to decay or late to bloom but they dare to go it alone.

Authors worry. We worry about writing. Worry about our editors, our agents, our reviews, and our readers. We worry about everything, including all forms of social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and personal websites.

You can tell when a writer moves out of a place of struggle and into a place of comfort, and it's always a bad thing.
