I really just compete against myself. I look at my previous material and try to surpass what I've done.

I like to not be too involved in the beginning and during the process so as to keep this fresh look and be able to give constructive recommendation on the final production.

I continue to be interested in new things that seem old and old things that seem new.

I just continue to look for different material, great material, as good as I can find, and try to go in there and do as good a job as I can do in making it a record. That's all you can expect. That's all that you can do.

Every day I look forward to getting with my instruments, trying new things.

When I was in top 40 bands, I always had to learn new material and new styles.
