You don't want to jump in on your first day on a show and start improv-ing and changing the show.

Sometimes you shoot for 40 or 50 hours for a one-hour show, and you have to make some very hard choices.

A show is like having a climax. It's like having an incredible, natural climax. And then suddenly it's all finished, and you don't know what to do next.

People will burn through a show in two or three days, and then you're left feeling empty for 51 weeks.

A show needs time to find an audience, and they're very quick to pull them off the air now.

You do a job; your show gets canceled. You get used to it.

There's some anxiety the 30 minutes before the show starts. But once you step on stage and face the people, everything goes away, and you have fun and enjoy the audience.

When you go to a show on opening night, or even the second performance, it is at the very beginning of what it will become. By the end of this run, the show will actually be what it is intended to be.

You can take wonderfully talented actors, wonderfully talented writers and producers, and, uh, do a wonderful show!... but if it doesn't hit with the public in two minutes, it's bye-bye.

You don't get as invested in someone in 90 minutes as you do over 13 hours of television show.
