Good, bad mediocre or whatever it is, if a director wants me in his movie, I take it as a compliment.

So, it didn't do well. But now when I talk to kids who are first seeing it, they're surprised to hear the movie failed at the box office. Sometimes that's what happens.

I've made some bad movies. And I really enjoyed it!

I think when any one kind of film does well, it creates a precedent and paves the way for more like it.

Unlike the stage, I never found it helpful to be good in a bad movie.

I think things that are really, really not good are easy to see. But films that are decent can either be made good or great based on the execution. At the end of the day, it's always a crapshoot about the execution, the level of taste, in any department.

'Saw' was good and bad. It was good in that it gave me a career start, but it was also negative in that it really marginalized me as a filmmaker.

At the end of the day it's got to be a good movie, it's got to be a funny movie, and it's got to make people think, 'Hey, I couldn't have spent my time any better.'
